Albany, N.Y./Rochester, N.Y. – Some local businesses are among those selected as finalists in the first round of the new Grow-NY Food and Agriculture Business Competition.
Eighteen companies were chosen as part of the first round of the competition. Among them are Victor-based The Perfect Granola, Geneva-based RealEats America and Rochester-based Re-Nuble.
The competition has competitors vying for $3 million in prizes during each round. In all, there will be three rounds in the competition, with seven winners chosen in each.
The goal is to help boost developing agricultural and food-oriented businesses in the Finger Lakes, Southern Tier and Central New York.
Each of the finalists has been assigned a mentor. The businesses will present their final idea pitches at a summit in Rochester this November.
